Socially Engaged Buddhism

Circle of Vow exists to support those who wish to engage in intersection of environmental and social justice. Circle of Vow is a promise to provide tools and support to create ethics, practices, and ways to root ourselves in the earth as we attempt to contribute to the healing of this troubled world. We believe that strong practices help to anchor us in our day and our lives. Vows help us remember why we are doing this work. Creating community will sustain us when our energies inevitably wane.

As such, we have three tiers of practice: ritual, community, and our chosen method of social/environmental engagement. You may just wish to pick up trash. You may wish to make art installations that remind us of our place on this planet and our interactions with it. You might want to rid the oceans of plastic. You might want to write a book about how ecological and social justice are tied up together, or about how climate change impacts people of color. Whatever your desire, we hope to provide a supportive, nurturing way to obtain spiritual and communal support for it. We need warriors, and this practice is aimed at taking care of one another as we stretch out into the world to make a difference.

This site is a work in progress. It will be evolving with the times and needs of the community.
